Guest workers make up a significant part of Singapore’s total workforce. They are often “invisible workers”, receiving little recognition for their labour. This March, Coca-Cola Singapore and the Singapore Kindness Movement embarked on a project to bring “Happiness from the Skies”, to show that a little kindness goes a long way to bring Singaporeans and guest workers closer. Coca-Cola airlifted boxes of Coke cans to more than 2,500 workers toiling on a large construction site by a fleet of remote-controlled customized drones. The care packages also included more than 2,700 photos of Singaporeans with handwritten signs thanking the workers for building their city. The workers’ faces lit up with smiles, grateful not only for the cold drink but for a gesture acknowledging that somebody, somewhere was thinking about them.
